Illinois Wesleyan senior Amanda LaRocca and head coach Chris Schumacher have been selected as the Division III Midwest Region women's track athlete and coach of the year, respectively, by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday, May 24.

LaRocca (Palatine, Ill., HS) scored an astounding 32½ points at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championships earlier this month. She won the 100 meters in a school record time of 11.98, won the 200 meters and 100-meter hurdles, and ran a leg on the winning 4x100-meter relay.
LaRocca recorded automatic qualifying marks in the 100 meters and 4x100-meter relay and provisional marks in the 100-meter hurdles and 200 meters during the 2010 season.

Schumacher, in his 13th year at Illinois Wesleyan, has a crew that won the CCIW and is ranked third in the country heading into the NCAA Championships on the campus of Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, beginning Thursday. Illinois Wesleyan sports 12 entries into the NCAA Championships, seven of which are in the sprint and hurdle areas.
