PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior women's cross country/track & field runner Katie Nowak (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) was named a First-Team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District V selection according to an announcement by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Nowak is a two-time Academic All-District V selection, also earning the honor as a junior in 2008.  A three-time all-conference performer during her time on The Hilltop, she was second in the 800 meters at the 2010 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championship in May and also was part of the second-place distance medley relay team at the 2010 State MVC Indoor Championships in February.

A four-time First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete, Nowak earned the distinction three times in track and once in cross country.  She graduated in May with a 3.97 cumulative grade point average in mechanical and bio-medical engineering and is eligible for Academic All-America consideration.  She is the first two-time Academic All-District runner for Bradley since former teammate Ainslie Schultz earned the award in 2007 and again in 2008.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and reached sophomore athletic and academic standings.
