Katelynne Hart was on the move at the Harvey Braus Lake Park Invitational

Roselle, IL

While most of the state's darlings were in Peoria at the massive First To The Finish, junior superstar Katelynne Hart of Glenbard West was making her season debut at the Lake Park Invite... sort of. Hart actually started in a dual meet against York several weeks ago until lightning strikes called things off just after the first mile. With a renewed sense of getting the first race for Hart, it was an opportunity for her to showcase the super talent that she possesses to the fans. She opened the first mile in a smooth like fashion all alone in 5:20. It was shortly after that moment when Hart peered over to see that she had a substantial lead over sophomore Alice Abbott and the rest of the field. It was all cruise control for the remainder of the race for Hart who is expected to compete well into December. The final result was a different time than last year when Hart blitzed the field in 16:08. She maintained her rapid form and crossed the line in 16:36. "I really like competing here," Hart elaborated. "This is my favorite course to compete on." Abbott would stroll home in second with a big personal best 17:13.

Hart and senior teammate Katie Hohe led the way 1-3 followed by three others who placed among the top 20. The Hilltoppers easily won the team title scoring 46 points to Prospect's 109 grand total. York senior Sarah May finished sixth and her mates took third ahead of St. Charles North 132-176.
