Last year they finished third behind Neuqua Valley and Hinsdale Central. "They" happens to be Wheaton South and they are most everyone's #1 pre-season pick. The Tigers are loaded and will see a tremendous early season challenge from said teams and others. Of course, every coach will say they are still in the evaluating phase and finishing up on the summer base phase. Perhaps, WWS fits that mode since they have tremendous depth and will look toward the national post-season this season. However, they also know a "loss" this early would be a stain on their record by the pundits. Coach Chris Kuntz will make sure the likes of twins Sean Maison and Scott Maison, Jacob Kluckhohn, and William Hauenstein take care of business from the gun and throughout the race. Neuqua Valley will feature a mostly senior line up as usual minus the services departed Zach Kinne. It should be a fight between the Wildcats, Naperville Central, and host Hinsdale Central for second place.

Individually, it should a great with the #1 rated Thomas Shilgalis of Naperville Central making his first return since winning the frosh race two seasons ago. Hauenstein and a solid fleet of the areas best will not lie down easily. Watch for junior ace Tyler Cushing of Bolingbrook to be in the mix. Cushing won the f/s race a year ago.
