Coach's outlook on the team: The Glenwood Titans are looking to better our finish from last season in 2018. Some injuries down the home stretch last year put a bit of a damper on what looked to be a solid end to the season. Dathan Maton showed he was back to full health in track season running a 4:26 1600 during the indoor season and hitting the 1:58 mark as a split of a State Qualifying 4x800. The trifecta of Dathan Maton, Drey Maton, and Cooper Peterson are pushing themselves this summer to be ready to take on any challenge during the season. Graham Turk was another runner plagued by injury at the end of last cross country season. Calf pain limited his ability to push himself to his true ability. I guess growing five inches in only a few months will do that.

Cameron Smith and Thomas Herbst will look to push into the Top 5 this season and it could be fun to watch which one finds his way into that group each week. Both Aidan Peterson and Grant Edwards have put in great summers and either of them could be Top 7 runners this season. A newcomer could also join our varsity ranks. Sampson Desalines is a rising star from Glenwood Middle School. He led the middle school team to a 3rd Place finish at IESA State last year and also took 5th in the 1600 at the Boys 8th Grade AA State Track Meet. His time of 4:48 is solid considering he only started distance running that same season in cross country. He could be a quick impact player on our varsity squad. The Titans are hoping to bring back the Central State 8 Conference Title this season, and retain our Regional and Sectional Titles from last season. The state championship is a target we are looking at down the road. It is a long season but we might have a team that could make some noise.
