Girls All-Time State Meet Records That Could Go Down In 2018

As the state meet approaches there has been a lot of talk about girls breaking state records, but very few people know what the records are. Join the "Biased Kid" as he tells you the top contenders for each record, the state meet record, and if he thinks that record will go down.

100m-

Top Contenders: Ameia Wilson (Jr, Danville HS), Ozzy Erewele (Sr, Springfield HS), Amira Young (Sr, Whitney Young HS), Dajour Miles (Jr, West Aurora HS), Imani Carothers (Sr, Chicago Brooks HS), Bella Uscila (Sr, St. Edward HS), Serena Bolden (Sr, Springfield Southeast HS)

Record Holder: Alexandria Anderson (Morgan Park HS) 11.41, 2004

Carson's Thoughts: This record is safe. Wilson is the closest with an 11.59, but that wasn't a wind-legal time. Wilson has been running 11.9's since and hasn't hit near that 11.59 that she put up very early into the outdoor campaign at the Texas Relays.

200m-

Top Contenders: Young (Sr, Whitney Young HS), Wilson (Jr, Danville HS), Erewele (Springfield HS), Tina Martin (Sr, Eisenhower HS)

Record Holder: Alexandria Anderson (Morgan Park HS) 23.32, 2005

Carson's Thoughts: This record is safe. I expect 1 or 2 people to break 24 at the state championship and they will run a 23.90 at best.

400m-

Top Contenders: Miles (Jr, West Aurora HS), Taylor Tilmon (Sr, Lakes HS), Janii Jenkins (Jr, Warren HS)

Record Holder: Alexandria Anderson (Morgan Park HS) 52.63, 2005

Carson's Thoughts: This record is safe. I think Cinnamon can go 53.75, but no one is coming near Alex The Great's sizzling mark.

800m-

Top Contenders: Enyaeva Michelin (Sr, Evanston Township HS), Rachel Hickey (Sr, LaSalle-Peru HS), Madison Marasco (Sr, Schaumburg HS)

Record Holder: Courtney Clayton (Hononegah HS) 2:07.05, 2013

Carson's Thoughts: This record is not safe as there is the potential that Michelin and Marasco could go off and bust out a sub 2:08 as it will be their last high school 800m in Illinois.

1600m-

Top Contenders: Katelynne Hart (So, Glenbard West HS), Michelin (Sr, Evanston Township HS),

Record Holder: Kayla Beattie (Woodstock HS) 4:43.65, 2011

Carson's Thoughts: This record is not safe as Hart and Michelin are so close together that they could possibly push themselves to the 4:43 mark. Also, you have to think about Hart's NBIN national championship which proves that she shows up when the lights are bright.

3200m-

Top Contenders: Hart (So, Glenbard West HS), Sarah Schmitt (Sr, Naperville North HS)

Record Holder: Kayla Beattie (Woodstock HS) 9:56.96, 2011

Carson's Thoughts: This record is not safe. We saw KK go 9:52 earlier this season with no competition and she may go sub 9:50 this weekend as she looks to reclaim her US#1 from New Yorker Katelyn Tuohy.

100H-

Top Contenders: Imani Carothers (Sr, Chicago Brooks HS), LaQwasia Stepney (Jr, Belleville West HS), Kayla Walters (Jr, Bolingbrook HS), Kaylah McCall (So, Homewood-Flossmoor HS)

Record Holder: Dawn Harper (East St. Louis HS) 13.54, 2001

Carson's Thoughts: This record is safe. Harper is by far the best hurdler in Illinois history. Carothers has hit 13.81 this season, but that won't be enough for her to beat that record.

300H-

Top Contenders: Jessica Franklin (Sr, Mahomet-Seymour HS), Halle Bieber (Jr, Naperville North HS), Karyn Best (Sr, Wheaton Academy)

Record Holder: Shalina Clarke (Evanston Twp. HS) 40.61, 2005

Carson's Thoughts: This record is safe. I would be shocked if anyone breaks 41.5 this weekend in Charleston. Too bad newcomer Jessica Franklin does not have another year- especially after dropping a 2:15 800m the other day at the Champaign News Gazette meet. It just shows that she has tremendous range.

4x100m-

Top Contenders: Kenwood HS, DeKalb HS, Homewood-Flossmoor HS, Whitney Young HS, West Aurora HS

Record Holder: Lincoln-Way East HS 46.04, 2014

Carson's Thoughts: This record is safe. No team this year will break 47 so this record is fine.

4x200m-

Top Contenders: DeKalb HS, Homewood-Flossmoor HS, Dunlap HS

Record Holder: Lincoln-Way East HS 1:36.86, 2013

Carson's Thoughts: This record is safe. We still have yet to see a sub 1:40 this season, I mean no one is touching this record this year.

4x400m-

Top Contenders: East St. Louis HS, Evanston Twp. HS, Wheeling HS, Naperville North HS, Glenbard East HS

Record Holder: East St. Louis Lincoln HS 3:45.14, 1984

Carson's Thoughts: This record is safe. No just no.

4x800m-

Top Contenders: Downers Grove South HS, Schaumburg HS, Barrington HS, Hinsdale Central HS, Naperville North HS

Record Holder: Wheaton Warrenville South HS 8:59.03, 2012

Carson's Thoughts: This record is safe. The fastest time we will see this weekend is a 9:08

Discus Throw-

Top Contenders: Jalah Morris (Sr, Zion-Benton HS), Jasmine Mitchell (Jr, Thornwood HS), Emily Offenheiser (Sr, Stockton HS), Ellie Weltha (Sr, Bloomington HS), Tayla Schwarz (Sr, Dixon HS)

Record Holder: Kelsey Card (Carlinville HS) 167-4, 2010

Carson's Thoughts: This record is safe. Jalah Morris threw 150-7, but is still far off from the record.

Shot Put-

Top Contenders: Evangeline Harris (Sr, East St. Louis HS), Chloe Lindeman (Jr, Fulton HS), Nikita Maines (Sr, Centralia HS), Chandler Hayden (Jr, Pittsfield HS)

Record Holder: Kathleen Young (Warrensburg-Latham HS) 51-0, 2016

Carson's Thoughts: This record is safe. KD's record will be lasting for a very long time. Young was so dominant when she was in high school and no one may be able to touch her record.

High Jump-

Top Contenders: Diamonasia Taylor (So, Urbana HS), Sarah Flight (Jr, Charleston HS), Jenna Pauly (Jr, McHenry HS), Lynette Latocha (Sr, Oak Forest HS), Kenli Nettles (So, Arthur HS), Daelin Switzer (Jr, Decatur St. Teresa HS)

Record Holder: Jelena Rowe (Bloom Trail HS) 6-0, 2017

Carson's Thoughts: This record is not safe. Taylor has jumped 5-10 so far this year and has been looking to break 6-0 for a while now and may be able to do it this season.

Long Jump-

Top Contenders: Serena Bolden (Jr, Springfield Southeast HS), Hannah Morris (Sr, Boom Twp. HS), Imani Carothers (Sr, Chicago Brooks Prep), Erika Furbeck (Sr, Geneseo HS)

Record Holder: Alexandria Anderson (Morgan Park HS) 20-9, 2005

Carson's Thoughts: This record is not safe. Furbeck did something almost unthinkable when she leaped IL#2 all-time 20-7 regardless of conditions at the Plano Sectional I honestly think that we will see the first 21 foot jump in state meet history this weekend.

Triple Jump-

Top Contenders: Carothers (Sr, Chicago Brooks Prep), Riley Ammenhauser (Fr, Neuqua Valley HS), Bolden (Jr, Springfield Southeast HS)

Record Holder: Jamie Robinson (Homewood-Flossmoor HS) 42-8.50, 2017

Carson's Thoughts: This record is not safe. Imani claimed to barely scratch on a 43+ jump earlier this year. If that is true and she can do it again, we may see this 1-year-old state record go down.

Pole Vault-

Top Contenders: Samantha Spencer (So, Providence Catholic HS), Aliyah Welter (Sr, Monticello HS), Josie Held (Sr, Mt. Zion HS)

Record Holder: Lindsey Murray (Harrisburg HS) 13-4, 2014

Carson's Thoughts: This record is safe. I don't think anyone will be breaking 13-feet this year.
