-Glenbard West started almost like their male counterparts Wheaton-Warrenville South, which was fast and packed up. The Hilltoppers had three runners in the top 10 as things before to sort out. Katelynne Hart would be the greyhound well out in front of the pack. It was not known beforehand whether or not she would go for meet record. One thing for certain is her teammate Lindsey Payne did not proceed with her. Instead she laid back with the lead pack that featured Evanston's Enyaeva Michelin, teammate Katie Hohe, Brett Chody of Lake Forest, and mainstay Emily Shelton of Minooka.

It would be a tale of two races as Hart ran through first mile in record pace (5:22) and the first responders more than 20 seconds back. Not much changed during the second mile as Hart continued to run exceptional hit the marker in 11:02. The Hilltoppers still had its top three up front at this point but host Devilettes were beginning to assert themselves on the strength of Revord sisters Reilly and Mckenna along with Grace McCabe. Though they looked a bit stressed they began picking off some of the early leaders. The final half-mile was a pivotal moment that ultimately decided the final outcome for the Devilettes over the Hilltoppers. As for the top individual honor, it would of course go to Hart in 16:42. Enyaeva, who is just a month removed from a long track season that ended with a 1500m title at USATF Nats, took a strong second in 17:21-17:33 over Shelton.
