Sydney Splits 49.85, Union Catholic Track Club Breaks Swedish Relay National Record at NBNO

The Union Catholic Track Club girls Swedish Relay team of Sydney Tucker, Amaya Chadwick, Khamil Evans and Sydney McLaughlin set a high school national record in the Swedish Relay on Friday at New Balance Nationals Outdoor in Greensboro, North Carolina, grabbing their second straigh national title in 2:05.93.

McLaughlin's anchor 400m of the 100-200-300-400 relay was a 49.85 FAT split.

All four of the relay's top teams broke the previous mark: Union Catholic (2:05.93), Miami Northwestern (2:06.33), South Dade (2:06.96) and Nansemond River High/"Team War" (2:07.78).

The previous national record was set just last year at 2:07.99, also by the UCTC.

McLaughlin is also entered in the sprint medley relay, 400m hurdles, and 4x400m relay. She broke her own national record and world junior record in the 400m hurdles earlier this season in 54.03; she is a three-time defending champion at New Balance in the event.
