Distance Night In Palatine Preview: It's Going To Be A Great Time For Distance Running Lovers

Whitney Young's Clayton Mendez and Prospect's Brooke Wilson are two spotlight athletes for DNP

It has been said if you build it they will come. That appears to be the case for the 2nd Annual Distance Night In Palatine despite many of the state's talented runners being dispersed all over the state in various invitationals. The climes will be a bit chilly by overall track and field standards but just fine for distance runners who can thrive in 48-50 degree weather. The boys field will feature some of the top runners in the state and region. Clayton Mendez, Jack Aho, and Finn Gessner are a few notables that fans will warm up to. On the girls ledger, look for Brooke Wilson, Rachel Hickey and Daly Galloway to shine bright.

The Distance Night at Palatine is a creation by one meet director Chris Quick who doubles back as the boys track and field coach. Though he comissionsed some ideas from other distance oriented meets, he is original with the term "undercard" and "main event" which will close with a costume 4x400 relay. It should be at great evening at Palatine High School!
