Jelena Rowe Leads Magical Day At The Gene Armer Invitational

Jelena Rowe clears the magical 6'0" barrier inside the Armory

The Gene Armer Invitational is a long meet by anyone's standard. It's a typical looking track meet inside the cozy Armory on the campus of the University of Illinois. Actually the Armory is a protected landmark with a ton of history behind it. But things change with the Gene Armer serving as a co-ed one entry per gender. The boys precede the girls in event order and there is a 30 minute break after the short dash/hurdles prelims. Many of the coaches and meet officials take an opportunity to eat lunch provided by the host Urbana High School. All in all it is a good day of track and field despite the duration.
