2017 Class A Boys Pre-Season Relays Preview

The 4x8 relay last year was very spectacular in pure form

4x800m relay-

2016 State Champion: Rockford Christian 7:54.78

Thoughts and analysis: Rockford Christian enjoyed a wonderful time last year steamrolling its way to a state champonship. The Royal Lions will need to replace more than two legs if Riley Wells moves up to the 3200. Since Class A have a hard time retooling because of depth, it has been nearly impossible to form dynasties. Shelbyville was misdiagnosed by IHSA stats as having two legs on their state runner up finish, but star Ryan Skowronski did indeed anchor a tremendous leg in 1:55. He is back and the question will be whether or not concentrating on open events. Third place Robinson returns three sturdy legs including anchor Joey Wright. Byron, Nashville, and Illini West were state finalists and return at least three legs.

New Berlin won the 4x1 on the strength of luck and power running by Khalil Wassell

4x100m relay-

2016 State Champion: New Berlin 42.67

Thoughts and analysis: New Berlin's great moment in the sun appears to have sailed away with three legs moving on. The lone returner Khalil Wassell is a Class A superstar in the making and he will more than likely concentrate on a triple crown. Fulton had a chance to win it but a dropped baton near the finish line by Trey Simmons nullified the prospect. 3rd place Rushville  and 4th place are back locked and loaded. Immaculate Conception has three legs including star speedster Jordan Rowell. He will be a direct threat to Wassell in the individual race battles.
