Could it be that Cahokia falls down under without its main man Ja'Mari Ward or will the Comanches rise to the occasion collectively (Colin Boyle photo)

For the first time in over a half decade the Cahokia Express is threatened to be derailed. In case some of you have been sleeping under a rock within the past 30 days take note. The most vaulted, notorious, gleeful, and dominant track and field (girls or boys) team since 2010 could be in BIG trouble this weekend at Eastern Illinois University inside of O'Brien Stadium.

The nation's #1 jumper and life blood man senior legend Ja'mari Ward will not compete this weekend according to Head Coach Leroy Millsap. Millsap indicated last weekend during the girls championship that Ward was out. He indicated that Ward's MRI came back negative and it's only a sore knee. But what does a real betting man think about what a gambler Coach Millsap will do? He has a deep bunch led by the healthy senior Anthony McRoberts, who is expected to lead in the high jump and triple jump. Regardless of what Millsap says he has Ward listed in the relays as a competitor. Ward is the ultimate competitor and he may be the one to come in out of the bullpen to save the day if need be. Even so, you better watch for the upstart veterans out of the Chicago Public League Morgan Park. They have a nice mix of speed that blends hurdles, jumps, and relays together- a perfect combination in track and field. Kaneland has jumps as well. Hillcrest was the last school to win a title outside of Cahokia. It is going to make for must see track and field.
