B-Side Blog: The Recipe

No team in Illinois boys or girls has had the impact on track and field during its current dynasty (Colin Boyle photo)

Controversy driven Scottie Pippen of the championship Chicago Bulls squads of the 90's got everybody riled when he said the Bulls would SWEEP Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. "Ol skool," the older we get some of us can't stand the "new skool." Me and my boys got riled the moment anyone mentioned GS had a shot under any circumstances, and then it went to they couldn't have beat NY, LA, Detroit, Boston, Houston, or Philly squads from back in the day.

I'm Ol skool, Period! But there's one team, "ONE" that transcends eras where even if you're ol skool you must accept the fact that as a team they have the throwback coach, look, and attitude.  That is the Cahokia boys team! It's the one team that if Illinois needs to be represented in America we better send (male or female). A lot of teams "wet the bed" in big national meets indoor and outdoor. Cahokia doesn't! Look at their results from this past weekend in Alabama.  Cahokia  has what I call 'The Recipe'. The Recipe is a required ingredient if you intend on being that transcending championship team. Oh teams still win state titles without all the ingredients but one can tell when something is missing from the dish.
