Could it be "Goliath vs. Goliath Part 2" with #1 Sandburg vs. #2 Neuqua Valley in Peoria?

  • The second match up may not be as intense as the first one but it should be another good one at Detweiller Park in Peoria. Sandburg Coach John O'Malley is changing his line up again. The Eagles will go with Chris Torpy, Tom Brennan, Max Lehhardt, David Gleisner, Martin Skucas, Brandon Lukas, and Dan Laskero; no Sean Torpy or sophomore sensation Dylan Jacobs. Words from O'Malley: "Same deal as before. Nothing wrong, I just see where we can improve and I'm looking to find significant ways to challenge people. I believe all seven of those guys are really strong sub 15:00 guys, so we need to show it. I am in no way disrespecting the phenomenal competition in Peoria. We very well may take a beating down there, but I believe in these guys and want to keep finding challenging opportunities for them."


  • Neuqua Valley Coach Paul Vandersteen has made a few changes to line up for Saturday. "We are splitting it pretty even between Lockport [Invite] and Peoria." Vandersteen alluded to. "[Connor] Horn will not race at all due to a nagging tendon in his foot. The good news is Scott Anderson got his boot off and did a little running today. [Aiden] Livingston will also not race due to SAT subject testing.


  • #3 Lyons will be in the place to be on Saturday as well. Now let's hope they load up their team with Vince Zona and Connor Madell leading the charge. Don't forget another sub 15:00 man on their roster in Danny Kilrea. With Sandburg and Neuqua Valley a tab bit underhanded, it could give the Lions a stepping ladder boost to swoop in and take the title. Or does it? Let's see how things play on Saturday.


  • It sounds like an even match up and fair exchange between both great teams. York will be on the scene although it will be their B-team.
