IL Athletes Continue Push At USATF Jr. Olympics: Saturday Highlights

-The penultimate day of the week long national junior Olympics in Jacksonville, Florida presented proved fruitful for several Illinois competitors in their respective disciplines.

  • Thomas Mosley (Zion-Benton/Waukegan Invaders TC) has positioned himself as someone to watch nationally in 2016. Mosley rebounded well after his high school track season ended with a dud. Instead of sulking the junior to be went to work this summer and produced a personal best 1:53.96 in the 800m. On Saturday afternoon Mosley completed his task and won the 15-16 year old group in 1:55.28; Josh Cable of Rochester took 6th in 1:58.29.


  • Miya Dorsey (Belleville East/Track My Speed TC) continues her strong summer season by advancing to the 17-18 400H final in a new IL#1 time of 1:01.54.

-The Angelic Flyers Boys 17-18 yr old 4x100m relay completed a rare feat by an Illinois speed quartet. The Chicago based crew consisted of Eric Walker (Chicago St. Rita), Matt Fleming (Chicago Simeon), Shandall Thomas (Schaumburg) and Marquise Peggs (Chicago Mt. Carmel) motored to a Bronze finish in a lightening fast 41.13.

-Emma Milburn (Lake Forest/Waukegan Invaders) earned the Silver medal in the Girls 15-16 3000m in 10:37.51. Milburn completed her first season in the tough Illinois distance running circuit. She will be someone of interest this fall in cross country.
