Salute To Seniors: Cedric Thomas Jr. - Mascoutah High School

What was your most memorable race?

My most memorable race was the 4x8 relay at states in Virginia. We werent supposed to finish in the top ten, but we wound up upsetting a couple of good teams and were named all state.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

Although I just had moved to IL, Marlin Brady would easily have to be the biggest competition. He's a really great runner

What was your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment was being recruited heavily. I never was even supposed to be good at track but I guess I've always been that pretty fast kid. It wasn't until i was cut from basketball when I finally decided to run.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

If I could do it all over again I'd train a lot harder along with being in the same environment all four years. I moved  to three schools my high school career.(Army Brat)

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Moving to Mascoutah my senior year is the hardest obstacle I've dealt with. I came to one of the most competitive track spots in IL and didn't know what to expect at all.

What will you miss the most?

The high school track environment along with the great teammates.

What advice you would give to younger athletes?

You control how far you go with anything you do. If you want it ,work for it and be better than the best

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

Both Coach Stebbins (VA coach) and Coach Jones(IL coach) have had nothing but a good influence with my life and track. They never sugar coated anything when it  came to track, my grades or even my attitude. I thank them for that .

What are your college plans?

I will attend Culver Stockton College on a track scholarship and study criminal justice.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

God first, without him none of this is possible at all. All my competitors and family who helped me along the way, I thank them also.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

Thank you for allowing all of us seniors share our high school memories one last time. GO WILDCATS!
